FOODHACKER SUMMER SCHOOL

CAMPANIA, ITALIA, AUGUST 28 – SEPTEMBER 1, 2016

A (post) digital storytelling experience amongst the places of real Italian made cuisine.

Sound, technologies, and new media are very important and helpful tools to describe a rural area.
The digital universe we live in daily can now be represented as a number of complex narrations where storytelling techniques become powerful instruments. The outcome is to shed a new light on the elements that characterize the story and the culture of rural lands. Through digital storytelling, it is now possible to show the story of authentic, quality food: its identity, its traditions, and its landscapes.
Sharing these elements in a new digital perspective gives a whole new meaning—unexpected centrality to rural areas and its indigenous food through languages, methods, and tools offered by technologies. In a time when digital medias take a large part in the process of cooperation, participation, and interaction that contribute to shape the creative practices and the society itself.

A new vital role for food made in Italy.

Looking at this process from a privileged point of view of the territories, the rural and marginal communities are far from the metropolitan. #Foodporn, can offer a new way to understand and critically re-think the dynamics of social, economic, political, and cultural mechanisms of digital medias.
The objective of the FoodHacker Summer School is to train new people ready to respond to the sustainability call of the age of the info sphere, that is collaborative, participative, and hybrid.
This Summer School offers the exclusive and total experience of (post) digital storytelling of Italian food, quality of food, in an anthropological voyage among the real holders of the secrets of authentic food—the making of mozzarella di bufala, the art of the real Neapolitan pizza, fishing the Alici di Cetara using the special technique called “Lampara”, making the intricate pomodoro del piennolo from the vesuvius, preparation of pasta, and bread made at home from real southern Italian mothers…
